The National Service Scheme (NSS) was introduced in the stream of higher education in the year 1969-70, the birth centenary year of Mahathma Gandhi. The main aim of NSS is to provide opportunities to the students to acquire valuable practical experience through service to the society. It changes the temperament of students towards humanity, helps them achieve all kinds of development including leadership qualities. Eligible NSS volunteer are entitled to get 5% grace marks for further studies.
There are two NSS units in the college under the leadership of the 2 programme officers.

The “Ardram Janakeeya Campaign" was organised by the Excise Department at NASC as a part of the anti drug movement at 2:30 pm. Both NSS and NCC took it hand in hand.The programme included a drama themed "Vazhivilaku".

An organization committee was formed for the smooth conduct of NSS camp of the year 2019-20 that is to be held on Dec 20 - 26 at Govt. Fisheries School, Marakkap. The programme was inaugurated by Dr. T. Vijayan (Principal, NASC) followed Mr. V. V. Rameshan (Kanhagad Municipality), Mr. Suresh (PTA President), Mr. Muhammed Kunji (previous teaching staff), Mr. Mohanan, Mrs. Jisha, Mr. Sathyan (Previous Programme officers, NASC) PTA Committee members along with the Volunteer secretaries (NASC) and public.

A programme, "Muthashi Maavinu Adaram", was organised at 3:00 pm at Moonam Mayyil as part of expressing the tribute to the tree which existed for years. The programme was organised by the NSS Unit (NASC) in cooperation with Keshavji Smaraka Grandhalayam. This programme was also considered a part of the annual celebrations of the care home "Sneha Veedu". The programme was inaugurated by one of the most eminent women personality Miss. Dayabhai and was taken over by K. V. Narayanan (President, Library), Mrs. N. T. Supriya (Programme Officer, NASC), P. V. Jayaraj (AEO, Hosdurg), Mr. V. Vijayakumar (Programme Officer, NASC), Mr. Harikrishnan (Volunteer secretary, NASC) along with all other members of the NSS unit.

A meeting was held at 3:00 pm as part of pre-camp preparations at GHSS Marakap. The introduction was carried out by Mr. Vijayakumar (Programme Officer) which was then taken up by the PTA President, Head Master, PTA members and other staff of the school along with the volunteer secretaries (NAS College). This meant just a pre-camp meeting in which no official organising committee has been formed.

The programme "Adithyam Hrudayamkond" was a popular initiative taken in order to provide accommodation for the participants and guardians who came from different places on the occasion of Kerala School Kalolsavam. The facilities lasted for 4 days starting from Nov 28 - Dec 1. The programme was successfully carried out under the supervision of Programme Officers directed by Volunteer Secretaries (NASC) and displayed by NSS volunteers.

As part of the 60th Kerala School Kalotsavam a cleaning programme was organised at Aingoth (Main stage as well as the surroundings). This initiative was inaugurated by Chairman (Welfare Committee). Programme was carried out by Programme Officers (NASC) along with Volunteer Secretaries(NASC) and the entire NSS Volunteers.

A celebration of 90 days of an intensive anti drug campaign was held at Sreevalsam Auditorium, Nileshwaram by the excise department. The programme was inaugurated by revenue minister Mr. Chandrashekaran followed by other eminent personalities. The programme included programmes like bike rally by the Excise Department, skit by students, magic show by Mr. Sudeer Madakath and the distribution of mementos to different institutions. The NSS unit of NASC received a memento which was received by the Programme Officer along with the Volunteer secretaries (NASC) in the presence of a grand public and NSS Volunteers.

The programme "Run for child" was organised as a movement against the harassment and ill treatment towards children. The programme was initiated by the Kerala Police and District Legal Authority. The run was started from Kottacheri and ended at Puthiyakota. The flag hoisting was done by Chief Judicial Magistrate Mr. Mujeeb Rahman and the introduction speech by Mr. Mukundhan (Hosdurg S.I), K.Bindu (District Child Welfare Officer), Mr. K. Arun (Mass Media), K. Dinesh (Legal Service Section Authority). The programme was successfully  coordinated by the NSS Volunteers under the supervision of NSS Volunteer Secretaries (NASC) along with Programme Officers (NASC).

A grand job fest was organised in Nehru Arts and Science College Kanhangad in association with the National Employment Service along with the District Employment Exchange, Employment Centre Kasaragod. The programme was inaugurated by Revenue Minister Mr. Chandrashekaran. The programme aimed at providing employment opportunities for a larger section of youth. The programme was successfully coordinated by the programme officers along with the Volunteer secretaries (NASC) and other NSS volunteers.

The Vikram Sarabhai Centenary Programme 2019-20 was organized NASC Kanhangad. The inaugural function included lecture by eminent ISRO scientists. The exhibition commenced from 11:30 am onwards on the first day. The next day other programmes like quiz, elocution, painting were organised. The entire volunteering was done by the NSS unit 4 & 5 (NASC) under the supervision of programme officers directed by volunteer secretaries (NASC) and displayed by NSS volunteers.

A workshop was held on NSS theme song. The programme was initiated by the entire NSS volunteers which involved both first and second year students. The introductory part was successfully carried out by Mrs. Supriya (Programme Officer). An interactive session was held with an eminent personality Mr. Sajith (Assistant Professor, GPM College Manjeshwaram) followed by a public awareness held through a bike rally themed "Vimukthi", which was held in association with the Excise Department, which started from Bus Stop (NAS college) at 11:00 am to Krishnapilla Busstop. 140 volunteers from 2 unites were involved.
