The college campus has ample green cover. Vegetation is found as small pockets or patches at areas with higher anthropogenic activities, while dense flora is found in undisturbed areas of the campus. Flora of the campus is prepared based on repeated seasonal collections from every nook and corner of the campus with the help of students. NAS College campus is bestowed with the presence of 439 species of vascular plants coming under 337 genera and 113 families. Angiosperms and more specifically seasonal plants dominate with 432 species followed by 4 Pteridophytes and 3 Gymnosperms. Among Angiosperms, 340 are dicotyledons and 92 monocotyledons. Herbaceous plants dominate as 194 species are herbs, followed by 118 tree, 83 shrub and 44 climber species respectively. Campus also offer protection for 205 medicinal plants, 113 ornamental plants, 71 edible plants and 54 RET plants.

It is a collection of preserved plant specimens for study and reference. Specimens are preserved in the container or jars in a preservative solution. NAS College botanical museum has diverse collections from each and every plant groups such as Algae, Fungi, Lichens, Bryophytes, Pteridophytes, Gymnosperms and Angiosperms. It also harbors specimens of ecological groups, plant modifications, plant diseases, plantation crops, economic botany, plant morphology, plant anatomy and many more.

A separate Greenhouse was established under Department of Botany in 2023 August. This poly house was specifically built for maintaining orchids, ferns, aroids, begonias, seedlings of RET plants and many more plants of practical importance and aesthetic beauty. As the green house is provided with shade net and micro sprinkler, it acts as an ideal plant acclimatization and conservation site for many sensitive plants.

A good collection of curated, authentic wood specimens of some trees from various parts of Kerala are maintained in the Museum. This collection of timber samples is mainly intended for teaching and to identify the unknown wood samples by comparing these authenticated woods. The timber samples exhibited are mostly of trees used in furniture, plywood and other industries.

NAS College has established and maintaining a Medicinal Plant Conservatory or Herbal Garden or Medicinal Plant Garden. It is the space devoted for growing and conserving diverse medicinally important plants. NAS College medicinal plant conservatory comprises more than 100 medicinal plants having diverse therapeutic efficacy. Plants are also provided with display boards.

It is a garden dedicated for the conservation of Rare, Endemic, Endangered and Threatened plants. It was established in 2016 and now acts as refugee for about 54 RET plants. Attractions of the garden are the presence of 30 endemic, 14 vulnerable, 8 endangered, 1 critically endangered and 6 near threatened plant species. All plants are provided with display boards.

The department of Botany introduced “Know Your Plant” Initiative in August 2023. A display board was established and maintained in front of the department for this purpose. This is an initiative with the objective of familiarizing and creating awareness about the identity and importance of local flora. On every working day, students as per their turn come up with a local plant and display the plant and information about this plant on the display board. All other students will observe the plant and note down the details.

It is a corner near the Botany department maintained exclusively for curious plants. This is an initiative of the department to induce curiosity and interest among students and visitors to know more about the interesting exhibits. Attractions of this corner include pitcher plants, curious cacti, butterworts, hanging casuarina, club mosses and many more.
