Congratulations to Mr. Vishnu Prakash J. and Ms. Aiswarya V. from the Computer Science Department who have won the district level award of Young Innovators Programme 4.0 of Government of Kerala! Their project idea, e-SasayParichithan, is a machine learning based project for identifying ayurvedic plants. They have received a cash prize of Rs. 25000 for their innovative and useful idea. The team was felicitated by the Finance Minister of Kerala on 21st July 2023 at a grand ceremony.
The Young Innovators Programme 4.0 is an initiative of the Government of Kerala to promote creativity and innovation among the youth of the state. The programme invites students from various fields to submit their project ideas that can solve real-world problems and benefit the society. The programme provides mentoring, training and financial support to the selected teams to develop their prototypes and showcase them at various levels.
The e-SasayParichithan project aims to help people identify and learn about the medicinal properties of various ayurvedic plants using a mobile app. The app uses machine learning to recognize the plants from their images and provide information about their names, uses, benefits and precautions. The app also has a feature to locate nearby ayurvedic practitioners and pharmacies for further guidance and consultation.
The project is a great example of how technology can be used to preserve and promote the rich heritage of ayurveda in Kerala. The team has expressed their gratitude to the Government of Kerala, their mentors, teachers and parents for their support and encouragement. They have also expressed their interest to continue working on their project and make it available to the public soon.
We are proud of our students for their achievement and wish them all the best for their future endeavours!
