Description: Small evergreen tree. Leaves simple, opposite, elliptic-ovate. Flowers brownish-purple, in terminal or axillary paniculate cymes. Fruit globose drupe, purple-black when ripe.

Uses: Planted in gardens. The scented heartwood is used in carving, oil extraction, religious ceremonies and medicine.
