Description: Shrub, with smooth pale grey bark that exfoliates in thin plates. Leaves simple, alternate, large, almost circular, leathery, with distinctive red veins. Flowers white, unisexual, in racemes. Fruit elliptic or egg-shaped berry, purplish when ripe.

Uses: Planted as garden plant. Ripe fruits edible.
