Description: Large tree, with thin, filiform, jointed, deciduous branchlets and 6 – 8 angled internodes. Leaves reduced to subulate scales, about 6 – 8 per whorl. Male spikes terminal, linear, cylindric. Female heads ovoid. Fruit flattened, terminally winged nut. Whole female head becomes dry, woody, cone-like multiple fruit.
Uses: Cultivated as an ornamental tree and wind breaker. Wood is used for fuel.
